• Swifts, Swallows and House martins are closely associated with human structures (in the UK at least). What did they use for nesting sites before men built such structures? Cliffs, caves etc? If so just how common were they? If they were scarce and they are now quite common, has the eco system adapted to them already or were there far more flying insects?
• I am looking for a pigeon guillemot expert. I would like some info on making nest boxes and nest hole for the pigeon guillemot on my property on Hood Canal in Washinton state.
• 'Birds Britannica' records that swifts move "..clockwise around low-pressure systems .." while feeding; and that they "..fly straight towards the unstable air at the rear of a depression where insects are present in extraordinary abundance ..." How do swifts recognise changes in pressure and use this information to guide them towards food sources ?
